13th session of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP)

The six priority areas of IFAP are information for development, information literacy, information ethics, information preservation, information accessibility and multilingualism. As set out in , IFAP re-affirms its crucial mandate to help UNESCO Member States develop and implement national information policies and knowledge strategies in a world undergoing profound digital transformation and facing tremendous challenges of digital divides.
The Programme is guided in its planning and implementation by an Intergovernmental Council, currently comprising 21 UNESCO Member States that are elected by UNESCO鈥檚 General Conference.
The Council is responsible for considering proposals to develop the Information for All Programme and recommending broad lines of action. It also guides the programme鈥檚 implementation by reviewing and assessing achievements. Lastly, the Council promotes international cooperation and the participation of Member States in the Programme, by developing regional and national projects and supporting fundraising efforts.
The Intergovernmental Council elects a Bureau comprising eight members including a Chairperson, six Vice-Chairpersons on the basis of equitable geographical distribution, and a Rapporteur. Members of the Bureau fulfill their roles in accordance with the 鈥鈥.
Six Working Groups align with IFAP鈥檚 six priority areas, playing a key role in the Programme鈥檚 implementation by developing targeted contributions to its work.
24 National IFAP Committees support IFAP鈥檚 mission at the national level, acting as key platforms for stakeholder engagement and facilitating knowledge transfer between international and national contexts.
In line with , IFAP embraces an inclusive multi-stakeholder approach and engages with all stakeholders and partners in its six priority areas to shape a future where information benefits all.
