UNESCO and Spain mark 20-year cooperation at the COMIX 2022

This annual review meeting is a testament to the firm commitment between UNESCO and Spain of their 20-year cooperation since the signing of the framework agreement in November 2002. The COMIX 2022 was held online with representatives of UNESCO, AECID, the Ministry of Culture and Sport, the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, the Ministry of Science and Innovation as well as the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Spain to UNESCO.
Spain has been a key supporter in all of UNESCO鈥檚 programmes particularly in Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean, with years of cooperation in promoting culture (especially underwater cultural heritage), inclusive and quality education, UNESCO designated sites, water security, youth engagement and oceanography capacity in the Canary Current Large Marine Ecosystem (CCLME). The COMIX praised the positive results of 3 completed projects on measuring Culture in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, supporting Historic Cities of Peru and promoting ancient manuscripts in Mali. The new project 鈥淐ulture of Peace and Resilience: Creation of a Culture Hub in L鈥檝iv, Ukraine鈥, which has recently started with the support of US$1.5 million from AECID, has become exemplary of Spain鈥檚 commitment to promoting Culture as the spirit of solidarity and international cooperation with Ukraine.
