This workshop was organized by UNESCO as part of the Electoral Violence Prevention Project (PREVEL), which is funded by the Peacebuilding Fund and jointly implemented by UNESCO, UNDP, and UN Women.

The evaluation sessions aimed to assess whether journalists and media outlets offered adequate support to the electoral process in the three provinces where the project was implemented: Kasaï Central, Haut-Katanga, and Lualaba.

Additionally, the sessions were designed to gather lessons learned from the media's experience during the 2023 elections, identify challenges faced, and formulate concrete recommendations to enhance the media's role in the electoral process in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Around forty participants attended the workshop, representing a diverse array of stakeholders involved in the electoral process, including journalists, representatives from CSAC and UNPC, women's and youth associations, political actors, provincial authorities, and members of civil society.

During the four-day event, participants examined the challenges journalism faces during electoral periods, focusing on issues related to information processing and the production of balanced and objective programming.
