The Gestoras Culturales Grant is a programme of access to training in cultural management aimed at women in their diversity who are dedicated to artistic and cultural work either in organisations or independently. It seeks to contribute to the reduction of gender gaps in the cultural sector. To date, it has received 340 applications and has benefited 18 women cultural managers from 8 regions of the country: Amazonas, Lima, Ucayali, Cusco, Junín, Puno, Ayacucho and Arequipa.

Guiomar Alonso, UNESCO Representative in Peru highlighted that "In Peru, in 2021, the percentage of women employed in the cultural sector was 20% lower compared to the percentage of men. The Beca Gestoras Culturales is a strategy to reduce these inequalities through capacity building and certification of competencies".

Igor Garafulic, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Peru, said that "The United Nations in Peru reaffirms its commitment to "achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls".

The Gestoras Culturales Grant would not be possible without the support of the Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) and the Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya (UARM) who provide scholarships in their respective cultural management programmes.

"The Museo de Arte de Lima ratifies its commitment to the construction of a more egalitarian country, the expansion of access to the arts, their enjoyment and the professionalisation of the cultural sector," said Luis Enrique Ramírez, MALI's Education Manager.

"I believe that the Gestoras scholarship is a necessary initiative. I have had the opportunity to see the growth of the women managers who have had the opportunity to train in one of our spaces and I am increasingly proud of them and their achievements," said Carina Moreno, coordinator of the Diploma in Cultural Management at the Antonio Ruiz de Montoya University (UARM).

In addition to acknowledging companies such as LATAM, Bodega Verde and Hoteles Costa del Sol that supported the development of the event, the activity was also an opportunity to welcome the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences - UPC, thanks to whom the number of scholarships will be increased, and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, thanks to whom equipment and connectivity will be provided to the scholarship holders. Thanks to all those involved, this project continues to strengthen the capacities of women cultural managers and to bridge the gender gap in the cultural sector.
