Each year, UNESCO collaborates with the Prime Minister鈥檚 Office and the Tanzania Commission for HIV/AIDS (TACAIDS) to organize Tanzania's commemoration of World AIDS Day. This year, the event took place in the Ruvuma region, located in southern Tanzania with the theme 鈥Take the Right Path: My Health, My Right.鈥

As part of efforts to empower youth, particularly those in higher and tertiary education institutions, to actively contribute to the national HIV response, UNESCO, in partnership with TACAIDS, facilitated the participation of 25 university students in this year鈥檚 national World AIDS Day commemoration. These students took part in various activities, including youth dialogues, discussions with government and religious leaders, an HIV scientific symposium, outreach HIV education initiatives, and an HIV scientific exhibition.

To further promote HIV prevention among young people, over 300 students from tertiary education institutions were enrolled in an online comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) course which provided them with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to make informed decisions about their health, education, and overall well-being.
