The Spotlight on the DRC written in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) provides education partners with a fact-based diagnosis of the national education system, with a focus on basic education and foundational learning. It seeks to highlight the progress made within the system in relation to the impact of factors such as education vision, teaching and learning, teachers, leadership and management, assessment, parent and community intervention, and evaluation of basic education and foundational learning.

It is part of the Spotlight series aiming to highlight positive practices related to foundational learning in Africa. Five country reports were developed in total to feed into the continental , covering also , and along with a series of case studies from all African regions.
