Professional background
University degree in computer science. Over a decade of experience as a software developer. For the past 5 years, Benoit has been leading the Canadian government's approach to ethical use of AI and automation. This includes developing world-leading policy instruments in this space: the Directive on Automated Decision-Making, the Algorithmic Impact Assessment and the Guide on the use of generative AI. Numerous engagements with partners in other jurisdictions and sectors to develop common strategies, approaches, and processes to support the ethical use of AI. Member of the initial UNESCO High-Level Expert Group for implementation of the Recommendation.
