Overview of the organization
Digital Rights Foundation (DRF) is an award-winning, female-led not-for-profit, non-governmental organization working on providing safe online spaces in Pakistan since 2013. DRF focuses on information and communication technologies to support women¡¯s rights, inclusiveness, democratic processes, and digital governance through services like cyber harassment helpline for online harassment cases to young women and girls, digital literacy campaigns, and capacity-building training. The organization has previously worked on issues of access, digital citizenship, online safety and online harassment against women and children.
Project and activity overview
DRF's executive director is part of UN secretary general's high advisory panel on AI and DRF has been conducting research relating to AI and ethical adoption of technologies particularly looking at impact on marginalized groups of AI and generative AI. We have also been building capacity of journalists and media personnels around AI and spotting generative AI content. Our main area of focus is on the harms associated to emerging technologies and focusing on human rights centric governace structures and adoption of AI.
