Biography

Ms Maru Gálvez has over 20 years of experience in the tourism industry, having operated 650 hotel rooms and 750 employees. She has managed the opening of air routes to and from Panama and has created more than 20 promotional tourist campaigns which resulted in more than 250,000 tourists in markets such as Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras and Canada. Active in her community, she belongs to the Board of Directors of the Neighborhood Association of Casco Antiguo, is a mentor for the Esperanza San Felipe Programme and creator of the Casco Antiguo Tourism Chamber as well as the Casco School, the first international bilingual school in San Felipe. She is one of the 30 women mentors of the Cempropyme Female Entrepreneurship programme in Central America. She currently holds the position of National Director of Creative Economy at the Ministry of Culture of Panama. She holds a BA from ULACIT in Marketing and Advertising and higher studies from Florida International University in Hotel Administration.
