Preservation and access to spanish bibliographic heritage

Description of the policy/measure
The bne, by means of the legal deposit law, preserves all the spanish bibliographic production that is distributed annually: books, sheets of music, sound and audiovisual recordings, etc., as well as the digital heritage, such as electronic books and websites.

The bne has a collection of more than 34 million documents accessible in person and, partially, digitized.
Financial resources allocated to the policy
It is very difficult to establish this, to a certain extent, all the activity of the bne is oriented to the conservation and dissemination of the spanish bibliographic heritage. the annual budget of the bne is around thirty million dollars.
Evaluation of the policy/measure
The custody of the spanish bibliographic heritage is considered a fundamental measure to ensure the preservation of the country's cultural memory as well as the promotion of research and personal and social development.
