20 students’ college healthcare and students welfare staff were trained on youth-friendly services delivery, mental health for young people and Self-Care for providers to improve their skills in supporting young people navigating health and well-being challenges.

30 student peer educators were trained on health and well-being issues in campus such as HIV infections, unintended pregnancy, Gender-Based Violence, Mental Health, Alcohol, Drug and Substance Abuse and campus relationships.  The champions were also trained on peer-to-peer education and will conduct outreach initiatives to reach their fellow peers, and eventually reach potentially 10,000 students with accurate information on sexual and reproductive health and encourage service uptake among young people. The peer educators also referred to as ‘O3Plus Champions’ will act as ambassadors and champion the O3Plus Project at the KMTC Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa campuses.

To improve the health and well-being of more young people, UNESCO is scaling up the Our Rights, Our Lives, Our Future Plus (O3Plus) Project and has partnered with Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to implement the project in their Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa Campuses. KMTC, a tertiary education institution plays a key role in training healthcare workers contributing to 85% of the local healthcare workforce in Kenya.
