Agencies meet to discuss the implementation of Education 2030 and skills for work

Two inter-agency meetings will be held at UNESCO Headquarters to discuss the implementation of Education 2030 in relation to access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and skills for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.

On 5 October 2015, the Interagency Group on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (IAG-TVET) will meet to identify ways to better support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Education 2030 Agenda. The IAG-TVET comprises UNESCO, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank (WB). Regional members include the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Commission (EC), the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). The group was established in 2009 to ensure coordination of activities by key international organizations involved in the delivery of policy advice, programmes and research on TVET.

On 6 October 2015 the IAG-TVET is convening a broader Inter-agency cooperation workshop on skills in the new sustainable development agenda.

Participants will include representatives from the IAG-TVET Members, other relevant international organizations and development banks and institutions as well as bilateral donors/institutions. The workshop will examine the implications of Education 2030 on international cooperation in TVET, focusing in particular on technical and financial partners’ future strategic orientations around skills for work and entrepreneurship, as well as on improved financing and inter-agency cooperation in the field.
