Apply now to the Institutional Award of Excellence in Data-Driven Research

UNESCO Beirut is partnering with the Institutional Award of Excellence in Data-Driven Research (DDR), MENA 2021, which aims to enable social and humanities researchers from the Arab region to master data science tools and techniques.

Junior Researcher Coach (JRC), a research training & consultancy organization based in Lebanon, is the organizer of this unique training and competition, in partnership with the University of Liverpool, GHEDEX and NodeXL. By early December 2021, the DDR Award will have encouraged more than 60 universities from the Arab region, to build internal joint research teams that elaborate data-driven research papers in social sciences and humanities in the Arab region.

Through its programmer of Social and Human Sciences (SHS), UNESCO supports the enhanced connection between research and policy, and between knowledge and action, to promote inclusion. The role of social and human sciences is key to document, explain, and thus foresee the solutions to the interlinkages of crises of environmental and economic failure combined with rising discrimination, populism and increasing inequalities which are all reversing the efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda.

Interested higher education institutions from the Arab region can apply through forming a representative team by 30 June 2021. To find out more, visit  or contact :info@ddraward.com

Ms Seiko Sugita, Programme Specialist for Social and Human Sciences (s.sugita@unesco.org) is the focal point for this activity.
