Call for proposals: CAS-ANSO co-funding research project

In response to the led by UNESCO, the call for proposals for the 2025 Chinese Academy of Sciences-Alliance of International Science Organizations (CAS-ANSO) Co-funding Research Program is now open.
The CAS-ANSO Co-funding Research Program supports the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals by promoting joint scientific and technological research between ANSO members and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) institutes. It aims to establish a co-funding mechanism under ANSO to advance sustainable development and contribute to the high-quality growth of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Priority areas
The 2025 CAS-ANSO Co-funding Research Program prioritises international collaborations that enhance livelihoods and support green development in Belt and Road partner countries. Projects should be 鈥渟mall-scale yet high-impact,鈥 address local technological and developmental challenges, and promote the localisation of research outcomes. The use of AI, digital tools, blockchain, and similar innovations is encouraged to drive sustainable development.
Key focus areas include:
- Clean energy
- Health and public health
Eligibility, funding, and application
Each ANSO Member organisation outside mainland China may recommend one proposal involving at least two countries and a CAS institute. The Principal Investigator must be an experienced scholar from an ANSO Member outside mainland China, and the Chinese Co-PI must be from a CAS institute, both under age 55 with appropriate academic titles. Co-funding may be financial or in-kind, and a support letter is required.
Each project may receive up to USD 200,000 over three years. USD 150,000 for the international partner and USD 50,000 for the CAS institute.
Applications must be submitted in Word format to the ANSO Secretariat at anso-crpp@anso.org.cn by midnight on 20 May 2025 (GMT+8).
