Celebrating Intangible Cultural Heritage at UNESCO, with Phoenix Satellite TV

On 15 October 2013, the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, is participating in a panel hosted by Phoenix Satellite TV on the topic of 鈥淭he Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage and the World Today.鈥

The Panel is part of the. It is being held from 4 pm to 5.30 pm in Room 10 at UNESCO Headquarters.

The Panel is attended by Nigerian Nobel Prize for Literature Laureate Wole Soyinka, Professor Homi Bhabha of Harvard University, former French Culture Minister, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabre, Professor Xu Jialu, Chairman of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations, and Chairman of Phoenix Satellite TV, Liu Changle. The session is moderated by Phoenix TV Senior Anchor, Mr Jiang Shangyang. 

The panellists are exploring such topics as the relationship between sustainable development and intangible cultural heritage, the role of intangible cultural heritage in the post-2015 development agenda as well as the importance of intangible cultural heritage for building resilient societies.

The debate will be followed by the opening of a photo exhibition of Weinan traditional arts, as well as by a performance from 50 artists from Weinan, to be held at 7 pm in Room 1.
