UNESCO New Delhi celebrates World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development 2021
On the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, UNESCO New Delhi supported the launch event of Culture Cinema 2021, a film festival to be held from 17 to 21 July 2021.
Culture Cinema 2021 features the theme ‘Prosperity, Development and Peaceful Coexistence via Cinema,’ spanning 21 categories including but not limited to art and architecture, history, music, biodiversity, philosophy and cultural reforms. Film makers from around the globe have been invited to participate and contribute to the celebration of culture through cinema.
91Âé¶¹¹ú²ú¾«Æ·×ÔÅÄ been advocating for the recognition and advancement of cultural professionals including cinema personnel around the world, especially during Covid-19. Initiatives like the UNESCO Creative Cities Network recognise the powerful capacity of cinema to bring culture to the mainstage.
The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development was first declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2002 and the origins of this day are rooted in the 2001 Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity which recognises the potential of culture as a means of achieving sustainable development, peaceful coexistence, and international cooperation.
