On 26 June, the was held in Madrid, Spain bringing together world leaders from Latin America and Europe, heads of diplomatic missions, CEOs, and experts from different fields to analyse and debate current affairs in Spain, the United States, Europe, and Latin America in order to address economic, geopolitical, gender, and other relevant business-related concerns through thematic panels.

Ms Saniye G眉lser Corat, UNESCO鈥檚 Director for Gender Equality, participated at the panel, 鈥溾, where she spoke in front of many high-level personalities who attended the summit, including H.E. 脕lvaro Uribe V茅lez, Former President of Colombia; H.E. In her speech, Ms Corat highlighted the path society should follow to achieve gender equality and women鈥檚 empowerment by 2030. For her, despite continued commitments and efforts, the world still face significant gender gaps in many areas, including the access to quality, inclusive education. According to UNESCO data, only two thirds of countries have reached gender parity in primary education, and only one third in secondary. Ms Corat also mentioned the role of digital transformation while tackling gender disparities. Today 12% of AI researchers are women. Women represent only 6% of software developers and are 13 times less likely to file ICT (information and communication 虏 technology) patents than men. Bridging these gender gaps requires gender-responsive digital skills education. 鈥淎 more inclusive technology sector would help build a more inclusive world鈥, said Ms Corat. To understand what is at stake if gender imbalances in the tech sector are not addressed, she quoted from the report , which looks at the recent proliferation of digital voice assistants, such as Siri and Alexa.
