As part of the EU-UNESCO cooperation programme for the strengthening of cultural governance and the promotion of South-South cooperation, more than 50 people from the Costa Rican music sector participated in the virtual workshop "Curatorship and Digital Music". This workshop is the third of four training modules included in the project known as "Música FFWD", implemented by UNESCO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Youth of Costa Rica.

This training module took place from 15-18 June and featured presentations by specialists in the field of digital music from various Latin American countries. William Patiño from Colombia and Nicolás Madoery from Argentina facilitated a presentation on the role of streaming platforms, digital distributors, and social networks in the music industry. Dani Ribas, from Brazil, focused on data management in the development of music projects. Pablo Acuña and Carlos Soto from Costa Rica, with Itzel González from Mexico and Alicia Zertuche from the United States, reflected on the role of music curation in building relationships with audiences. Finally, Abraham López and Dex de Tundra, from Mexico, shared methodologies for digital release strategies.

Costa Rica is one of the 12 countries selected worldwide to benefit from the technical assistance of the UNESCO-European Union cooperation programme to support new regulatory frameworks for cultural and creative industries, the strengthening of cultural policies and the promotion of South-South cooperation. Through the "Música FFWD" project, UNESCO and the European Union seek to provide the Costa Rican music sector and cultural institutions with the technical tools to support the fulfilment of the for Sustainable Development Goals through culture.

The fourth and final training module will take place from 20 July and will focus on new business models for the music sector.
