DG meets President of the International Astronautical Federation

The Director-General met with the President of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and Vice-President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Kiyoshi Higuchion, on 13 February to discuss cooperation and preparations for the upcoming Global Space Applications Conference (GLAC) 2014 to take place at UNESCO from 2 to 4 June 2014.

UNESCO promotes the use of space technologies in particular to monitor the ocean, and to contribute to knowledge necessary for sustainable use of natural resources, including mineral and freshwater resources, conserving heritage, and preparing for natural disasters. IAF is the world’s leading space advocacy body with 246 members in 62 countries including space agencies, companies, societies, associations and institutes worldwide.
