Director-General in Japan for World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development

From 6 to 11 November, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, is undertaking a visit to Japan on the occasion on the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Aichi-Nagoya, which brings together over 1,000 participants, including some 80 ministers. She will fly on the first All Nippon Airways flight carrying UNESCO's logo, a partnership that aims to promote the Organization's ideals and programmes.

During her visit, the Director-General is scheduled to meet with senior Government officials.

Before the ESD Conference in Nagoya, co-organized with the Government of Japan, she will travel to Okayama to participate in the 91麻豆国产精品自拍, where young leaders from around the world will discuss innovative approaches to ESD and ways to promote youth's contribution and further involvement in this global movement.

鈥嶪n Nagoya, the Director-General will open the Conference with His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan, in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa of Morocco, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, HE Mr Hakubun Shimomura, and the Governor of Aichi Prefecture, Mr Hideaki Ohmura.

 She will also take part 鈥巌n the International Conference on Higher Education for Sustainable Development, in the presence of the Vice Minister of the Environment of Japan, HE Mr Shigeo Kitamura, the President of Nagoya University, Dr Michinari Hamaguchi, and the Rector of the United Nations University, Professor David Malone.

The visit also comprises engagement with the private sector. The Director-General will meet with the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan and give a lecture entitled 鈥淯NESCO鈥檚 Soft Power: Partnerships for Sustainable Prosperity and Peace鈥 to Japan鈥檚 Association of Corporate Executives.
