UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, is paying an official visit to Bulgaria on 12 and 13 January to join celebrations of the centennial anniversary of the Bulgarian film art.

While in Sofia, she will also deliver a lecture in Sofia State University on the legacy of Nelson Mandela at the invitation of the Ambassador of South Africa to Bulgaria and the National Commission for UNESCO.

Ms Bokova will receive Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of National and World Economy and the title "Honorary citizen of Sofia" by the Sofia Mayor.

In the frameworks of her visit, the Director-General will meet members of the UN Association for Bulgaria and will be received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Culture.
