Director-General Urges Investigation into Death of Journalist Maxim Borodin in Russian Federation

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, today asked the authorities of the Russian Federation to investigate the death of reporter Maxim Borodin on 15 April.

鈥淚 call for a thorough and transparent investigation into the death of Maxim Borodin,鈥 said the Director-General. 鈥淚 trust the authorities will spare no effort in determining the circumstances of his death.鈥

Maxim Borodin died from injuries sustained in a fall from the balcony of his apartment in Yekaterinburg on 12 April. He was an investigative journalist with the independent news website Novy Den.
