With a total curriculum coverage, including education for sustainable development and citizenship education, EDUCA-TV will make a major contribution to the SDG 4 - Quality Education for All, which is a very important driver for democracy and peace

- Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education

The regional educational channel is a major accomplishment in UNESCO’s support to member states to improve access to and quality of education in Central Africa by broadcasting a variety of televised educational programs via satellite.  The initiative comes within the framework of the Covid-19 educational response where television was widely used among other distance learning devices to compensate for the interruption of schooling for hundreds of millions of pupils in Africa, with an even greater detriment to girls and young women.

EDUCA-TV has a dual mission of formal and non-formal education, in the context of access and right to education in UNESCO’s Priority Africa global objectives.

First, EDUCATV will support the learning and teaching experience of millions of students in Central Africa, particularly those in examination classes including primary, secondary school and state examination courses. Additionally, EDUCATV envisions the integration of non-formal education programs on contemporary topics such as health and wellness education, education for sustainable development, citizenship education, prevention of hate speech, prevention of violent terrorism, culture of peace and living together.

The television also aims entrepreneurship training modules to promote youth employability, including in the creative cultural industries, etc.
