Educating for climate change in Asia

About 100 experts from the Asia-Pacific region exchanged experiences and good practices in climate change education during a three day meeting on Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development from 10 to 12 February 2014 in Manila, the Philippines. They developed recommendations to help education systems in the region prepare their children and citizens to address the impacts of climate change.

As part of the meeting, participants visited two awarded ‘Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Schools’ in Manila – Miriam College and Commonwealth Elementary School and assisted a disaster drill at the latter.

UNESCO and SEAMEO INNOTECH organized the meeting three months after super typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines.
