Enhancing World Heritage Management Skills for Heritage Professionals

On 13-15 December 2019, and as part of a series of capacity-building workshops on World Heritage, UNESCO Beirut, in cooperation with ICCROM Sharjah, organized a workshop titled  鈥淓nhancing World Heritage Management Skills for Heritage Professionals鈥. The workshop was attended by staff of the Directorate General of Antiquities (DGA) at Lebanon鈥檚 Ministry of Culture, in presence of the DGA Director General Mr Sarkis El Khoury.

Building on a previous workshop held in Lebanon, where participants were introduced to World Heritage concepts, value-based management, disaster risk management and impact assessment, this workshop aimed to give participants an understanding and tools for developing  an integrated and sustainable World Heritage management plan in their own country/context.

At the end of this workshop the participants gained in-depth knowledge of how to sustain the OUV in the management of World Heritage sites, acquired methods to achieve an effective, coherent and functional management plan, and gained current knowledge and skills for relevant management approaches and responses applicable in their situation. The workshop also provided them with an opportunity to shared experiences and information.
