A Future Reimagined - Right to Education for all!

The year 2020 completed sixty years since the adoption by UNESCO’s General Conference of the . An instrument, which has been at the forefront of the Organization’s standard-setting instruments in the field of education.
To mark the 60 years, UNESCO launched a campaign and released several resources to raise awareness about the Convention. This also includes a stirring video story of two sisters, Avni and Bina, as they struggle to ensure the right to education. The story is depicted in the form of a heart-warming animation.
While on their way to school, a terrible bicycle accident leaves Avni visually impaired and eventually unable to return to school with her older sister Bina. That’s when Bina, who finds the situation absolutely unacceptable, decided to fight for her sister’s right to education in a passionate struggle that ended up changing not only their lives, but also that of their community.

UNESCO Convention against Discrimination in Education is the first legally binding international instrument that extensively covers the right to education. This celebration serves as an opportunity for UNESCO to renew its commitment to the rights and obligations laid down in the Convention by effectively putting an end to all kinds of discrimination and ensuring equality of opportunity in education for all!
