Heritage and Creativity for AlUla’s Sustainable Development, an integrated initiative for culture

The new intiative ‘Heritage and Creativity for AlUla’s Sustainable Development’ will be launched during the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference. It will embrace culture through a variety of dimensions in an innovative integrated approach. The large-scale initiative will include activities to protect cultural heritage in all its forms, promote sustainable tourism develop cultural and creative industries and enhance creativity, while promoting international exchanges on good practices in these fields. 

The multidimensional nature of the project will involve a wide range of stakeholders worldwide, from international experts and institutions to artists and culture professionals as well as local communities. Through this approach, AlUla will foster expertise and knowledge at the regional and international levels, thus offering a hub of heritage and creativity. This initiative is timely as it aligns with the MONDIACULT 2022 Declaration and promotes Culture as a global public good and as a driver of sustainable development.

This session will be conducted in English.
