Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) community based inventorying Pilot exercise of “Strengthening national capacities for safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Egypt for sustainable development”.
The main objective of this activity is to strengthen the national capacities for the community-based ICH inventorying process in Egypt and to identify areas that require further support. Field pilot was undertaken in Assuit, Aswan, Cairo, Fayoum, Gharbeya, and Siwa Oasis from January until April 2020 with the participation of 30 participants (16 men and 14 women). Some 2,000 pictures and 200 videos on the ICH elements across the five domains defined in the ICH Convention were produced through the ICH inventorying process with the participation of knowledge holders, practitioners, and the community.
