Kazakhstan supports UNESCO鈥檚 lead role in the implementation of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures
The Republic of Kazakhstan has made a new financial contribution to UNESCO of an amount of US$ 150,000 to support the implementation of the Action Plan for the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022). This is the third contribution by the country to the Special Account of this Decade, following earlier donations of US$ 200,000 in 2013 and of US$ 100,000 in 2014.
As lead UN agency for this International Decade which was launched in Kazakhstan in August 2013, UNESCO is engaging further to promote mutual understanding and respect for diversity, rights and dignity between peoples, through intercultural dialogue and concrete initiatives.
The Experts Meeting for the implementation of the Action Plan of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures that was held at UNESCO Headquarters on 24 and 25 March 2015, the elaboration of relevant communication tools such as the Brochure for the Decade or its dedicated website are among initiatives supported with this Fund.
