Launch of publication on agrobiodiversity in the Oxapampa-Asháninka-Yanesha Biosphere Reserve in Peru

The book, written by Christian. R. Vogl and Gabriela AlbarracÃn-Llúncor of the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences of Vienna, Austria, seeks to improve the understanding and appreciation of the role of agrobiodiversity, the possibilities for its conservation and the experiential knowledge of small farmers in the Peruvian Biosphere Reserve linked to agrobiodiversity. The aim is to contribute to the conservation of agrobiodiversity in order to improve the living conditions of rural communities.
The work has demonstrated that the experiences of local actors and the findings of previous research in the region were hardly available, not only on the topic of agrobiodiversity, but also on other important issues. Therefore, the administration of the biosphere reserve BIOAY was committed to making the knowledge of the biosphere reserve more visible with the help of the project.
The 542-page book, with a wide range of images, brings together the extensive experience of 55 authors and is an exemplary inter- and transdisciplinary contribution to the tenth anniversary of the .
