UNESCO proclaimed the  in November 2019. It was celebrated for the first time as the world date by CPLP in 2020, the year in which Brasilia celebrated 60 years of existence.. 

The seven Embassies of the Countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) with diplomatic representation in Brazil - Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, and Timor-Leste, in collaboration with the CPLP Executive Secretariat, the government of the Federal District, UNESCO in Brazil and the Camões Institute – a Portuguese Cultural Centre in Brasilia have gathered eight texts, primarily unpublished and illustrated, in a publication for children and youth dedicated to the Brazilian capital, entitled "Sonhar Brasília". 

The publication brings together texts by João de Melo (Angola), Conceição Freitas (Brazil), Vera Duarte (Cape Verde), Jorge Luís Mendes (Guinea-Bissau), Bienvenido Ebang Otogo Obono (Equatorial Guinea), Mia Couto (Mozambique), José Luís Peixoto (Portugal) and Tino Freitas (Brazil / Timor-Leste) and illustrations by Nelo Tumbula (Angola), Toninho Euzébio (Brazil), Davide Luís Mendes (Guinea Bissau), Daniel Esteves Moreira (Portugal) and Mariano da Cruz Santa (Timor-Leste).

The book will be launched in a virtual event, on May 5, at 3 pm (Brasília time), on the UNESCO Portuguese YouTube channel, with live broadcasting through the CPLP portal: . 

The event will count on the participation in the opening session of this joint publication launching of the Director and Representative of UNESCO in Brazil, Marlova Noleto; the Executive Secretary of CPLP, Ambassador Francisco Ribeiro Telles; the Ambassador of Cape Verde to Brazil, José Pedro Máximo Chantre D'Oliveira; and the Chief from the Office of International Affairs of the Government of the Federal District, Renata Zuquim. The Journalist Nahima Maciel will mediate the session.
