Launch of UNESCO project in Tunisia on contaminants in irrigation water

In August, UNESCO launched a study entitled Contaminants of Emerging Concern in Oued Souhil area, Nabeul, Tunisia: occurrence in Irrigation water and implications (ECOSI). The project from 2015 to 2016 involves the participation of the NIREAS-IWRC as well as international partners from Tunisia.

ECOSI will address the occurrence of selected contaminants of emerging concern in irrigation water (wastewater and groundwater) and in soil in the Oued Souhil area (Tunisia). The project will specifically investigate the relevance in these matrices with respect to fate, behaviour, and risks to ecosystem based on available data and literature.
