One World, One Artist Campaign: Young Arab Artists' Visions for the Cultural Sector
UNESCO, with the generous support of the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud Foundation, recently launched an online campaign through which young artists across the Arab Region were invited to share their visions on the cultural and creative sector, including in the challenging context of the prevailing COVID-19 crisis.Ģż
āChallengeā, āFutureā, āHopeā ā Young Arab artists from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon toĢż Morocco and beyond, expressed through one word how they perceive the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on their creative work. Together, they make a call for solidarity, resilience and hope to all artists across the world.
For Noura, the current situation opens new perspectives for the āFutureā, recalling that her country, Saudi Arabia, is currently experiencing a paradigm shift in several fields, including culture and the arts. Lebanese illustrator and interior architect Tony reminds us that hope for change and creativity are born from the āChallengeā we face. For Nada, a visual artist born in Alexandria, Egypt, āStillnessā for over one year of pandemic, nourished her inspiration and strengthened the commitment to remain true to herself through navigating across her space and imagination. Bouthayna shared her prospects for āInspirationā amidst the many challenges in her country, Qatar, during difficult times. From Morocco, Ismail envisions āHopeā in everydayās reality through the poetic gaze of photography. Miramar, street artist from Jordan, takes strength from her inner āFaithā to look to the future and to reinvent space. Saudi Arabia artist Abdelrahman embraces calligraphy, architecture and symbolism to project āPeaceā across his creative journeys.
The testimonies of these young Arab artists show the vitality of culture and the arts in the region, the steadfast commitment of young artists to build on arts and creative expression to nurture resilience and to shape their future.

A related analytical report on the creative sector in the Arab region today has been published to explore creativity in the region, particularly by gauging the influence of the Arabic language and digital transformation, specifically among young people, whilst highlighting the broader impact of cultural and creative industries upon development and social cohesion, and their progressive establishment in the public policies of countries.
