Participate in the Global High Schools Category of the Zayed Future Energy Prize

is an annual award which recognises global leaders in renewable energy and sustainability. The Prize was established in 2008 to honour the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding father of the United Arab Emirates. The Prize is awarded in five categories: Large Corporations, Small and Medium Enterprises, Non-Profit Organisations, Lifetime Achievement and Global High Schools.

The Global High Schools category accepts submissions from schools which wish to implement sustainable energy projects of their own. One winner from each region - Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania - is selected to build their proposed project over the course of a year. From building solar power installations, water heaters and even technological education hubs, the Global High Schools winners use the support of the Prize to design and implement their very own visions of a sustainable future.

High schools from around the world are invited to submit a business plan that describes how they would utilise the Prize in order to raise awareness of sustainability and reduce the school’s environmental footprint. The submissions deadline for the 2018 prize is 6 July 2017. For further information and to apply, please visit the website:
