Project: The Research on Economic values of Trang An World Heritage Site Property and Its Contribution to Sustainable Development

Brief information:
UNESCO supports the comprehensive research to assess the Heritage and Economic Values of the World Heritage Site (WHS), Trang An Landscape Complex. The project will contribute to national and provincial sustainable development’s strategies, in alignment with the UNESCO 2015 Policy for the Integration of a Sustainable Development Perspective into the Processes of the World Heritage Convention.
Overall objectives:
This project aims to fully recognize the inclusive economic dimension including the economic values of the Trang An World Heritage Site at the present condition as well as future potential under diverse scenarios. The findings will inform the decision-making process in the Trang An WHS region and its vicinity, proposing actionable policies and recommendations to maximize the Site’s contribution to regional economic development and sustainable growth at the national level. These efforts seek to empower local communities, enhance regional economic performance, and support national sustainable development frameworks, in accordance with the UNESCO 2015 Policy for the Integration of a Sustainable Development Perspective into the Processes of the World Heritage Convention.
UNESCO will support the project by 1) facilitating international expertise and collaboration; 2) providing technical input for research development and workshops; and 3) assisting in the dissemination of findings and the promotion of global best practices.
Main activities:
Facilitate Technical Expertise and Collaboration: Coordinate technical consultations with international and independent national experts, fostering discussions and knowledge exchange to enhance the research process.
Provide technical input for research development and workshops: Provide inputs on the research framework, methodology, and implementation plan, and assist in organizing consultation workshops with participating teams.
Disseminate Research Findings and Promote International Practices: Support the dissemination of research results through publications and workshops while coordinating the involvement of independent experts in field research and study visits to incorporate global best practices.
