ROSA to host roundtable discussion on youth and social innovations

A roundtable discussion on youth and social innovations will take place in Harare, Zimbabwe on 7th February 2020 to better understand the nature, features, and the prevalence of youth’s social innovation in the SADC region. It will look at various fields of intervention such as employment, environment, cultural heritage, education, health, community development and the multiple features being used such as online platforms, social media and crowdfunding applications.
The roundtable will provide a platform for youth organizations to share their work and practices on social innovation and engage them in formulating interventions on youth civic engagement, social innovation, and social cohesion among other themes.
The UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa is organising the roundtable discussion in partnership with the Southern African Research and Documentation Centre (SARDC). It is expected that at the end of the meeting, UNESCO and SARDC will have a better understanding of the current practices and experiences of youth organisations.
This particular roundtable will be open to youth organizations operating locally in Harare and by videoconference to youth originations in other SADC countries. Academia (such as University’s Innovation Hubs), and UN organizations will also take part.
