For 30 years, the Latin American Laboratory for Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE) has worked to improve educational quality in Latin America and the Caribbean. To achieve this, it has measured student learning outcomes, strengthened the capacities of Ministries of Education, and promoted collaboration among countries.

In its 2019 version, the ERCE study, led by the LLECE Laboratory, measured socio-emotional skills such as empathy, self-regulation, and openness to diversity for the first time. These findings highlight the importance of integrating socio-emotional skills into educational curricula.

The publication Aportes para la enseñanza de habilidades socioemocionales developed in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Research in Education (CIAE) of the University of Chile, offers practical guidance to enhance teaching practices, emphasizing that these skills are essential for the personal, social, and professional development of students.

This launch is part of the regional dialogues on SDG 4, which promote knowledge mobilization and technical dialogue on educational issues. The Dialogues are part of the Permanent Forum on Educational Recovery and Transformation, a platform that aims to improve educational cooperation in the region.

The objectives of the launch include presenting the publication as a tool for teacher support, developing practical strategies to improve student well-being, and reaffirming the commitment of UNESCO's LLECE Laboratory to promoting socio-emotional skills in the region.

The event also celebrates the 30th anniversary of the LLECE Laboratory.
