From 28 September to 2 October 2015, just after the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit, the UNESCO-UNEVOC e-forum is hosting a . Experts from around the world will discuss the guiding principles of the new Strategy, emerging issues and trends to which TVET should respond, elements to be included in the new Strategy, and the roles of UNESCO.
A key resource for the virtual conference is the new UNESCO publication, , which focusses on TVET and sustainable development. The book calls for the transformation of TVET systems to enable them to respond effectively to rapidly changing contextual demands. Key enablers for the transformation and expansion of TVET are identified as: partnerships and networks; the knowledge and information base; a culture of learning; incentives and accountability and capacity development. The authors argue that when TVET’s potential is unleashed, it can catalyse the development of inclusive and equitable lifelong learning systems.
