On 17 June 2016, the 70th anniversary of the historic Nuremberg Trials, the cultural observatory UNESCO Villa Ocampo (Argentina) inaugurated the exhibition “Soledad Sonora” (“Solitude Sounds”) about Auschwitz Birkenau German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp (1940-1945), 37 years after it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Holocaust is still alive in the memory of its last survivors, but also in the sites where those atrocious crimes were committed. To preserve the places where millions of innocent victims were murdered fulfills a double purpose: to pay homage to the victims, and to remember that dark chapter in the history of humanity so as to proclaim: “Never again”.

Located in Buenos Aires, Villa Ocampo was donated to UNESCO in 1977 by the intellectual Victoria Ocampo and hosts art exhibitions, concerts and seminars.
