Project
Strengthening Curriculum Content for Teachers in Public Educational Centers of the PEA Network in Costa Rica

What is the project about?
The project seeks to support the Network of Schools Associated with UNESCO in Costa Rica (ASPNET) through lectures, webinars, and workshops on the topics of teacher mental health, education for sustainable development, and global citizenship education. The objective is to reinforce the curriculum content in pursuit of advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4.7, which focuses on education, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
In summary, the primary goal is to strengthen the theoretical knowledge and teaching practices of teachers working in the ASPNET in Costa Rica in the areas of Education for Sustainable Development, Teacher Mental Health, and Global Citizenship Education.
Among its current achievements is the completion of 20 workshops in 10 primary schools in the metropolitan area between May and July of this year. This has resulted in a total of 323 teachers and administrators being sensitized and trained in the aforementioned topics. Additionally, the work conducted by UNESCO San José with teachers from the ASPNET was presented to UNESCO Quito as a successful example of collaborative work.
Activities:
- Webinars and training workshops for teachers from public schools in the metropolitan area of the ASPNET.
- Sharing the experience of collaborative work between UNESCO San José and the ASPNET in Costa Rica for 2022-2024 as a successful collaboration example with other UNESCO offices.
- Strengthening the professional competencies (knowledge and practices) of teachers belonging to educational centers in the ASPNET in Costa Rica in topics identified as necessary and relevant for them, such as teacher mental health, education for sustainable development, and global citizenship education.
