Sub-Regional Meeting on Education 2030 in Almaty "Implementing SDG 4 in Central Asia"

On 22-23 February 2017 UNESCO Office in Almaty organized a Sub-Regional Meeting on Education 2030 to accelerate the planning, implementation and monitoring of the SDG4-Education 2030 agenda in Central Asia.

Central Asian countries face challenges in translating global targets of the SDG4 into their implementation plans, which have to reflect regional, national and local characteristics and to list available resources, capacity and data at national level.

On the Sub-regional meeting on implementation of SDG 4the counterparts from Central Asia received information and guidance on the implementation of SDG4 at national and local levels.

The meeting will also officially launch the 2016 Global Education Monitoring Report 鈥淓ducation for people and planet: Creating sustainable futures for all鈥 in Russian, which examines complex links between education and key development sectors with an implication for education policy and proposes a new monitoring framework for education in the post-2015 period.

During the conference, Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, Mr Erlan Sagadiev, Secretary-General of the National Commission of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO, Ms Assel Utegenova acknowledge the efforts of UNESCO in Central Asia in supporting the countries with the SDG4 localization process and reconfirm commitments made towards targets set for Education 2030.
