Support Global Emerging Environmental Leaders

The Global Environments Network supports emerging changemakers by promoting peer-to-peer learning and communication skills training. The Network is launching the final fundraiser to support the 19 exceptional environmental leaders who are coming to their summer academy this year. Donations given during a 15-hour period starting at this time today will receive a 50% bonus from GlobalGiving.
Working from local to global scales, these leaders draw on superb academic backgrounds and inspiring field experiences to develop practical actions - often out of the public eye - that improve local livelihoods, resolve conflicts and restore environments. These inspiring efforts are benefiting their communities, their countries and the world as a whole.
Emerging changemakers work in isolation without an adequate support network beyond their discipline, location or practice. They seek spaces where they can explore ideas with peers in a multidisciplinary process of sustained reflection.. Bringing together changemakers fuels innovation and collaboration for positive transformation of a needy world.
The Global Environments Summer Academy (GESA) is the cornerstone of GDF's effort to diminish this isolation through peer-to-peer education and sustained interactions. Entering its fourth year, GESA provides emerging environmental leaders with networking opportunities, communication skills and a venue for cutting-edge, multidisciplinary reflection. Over three years, GESA hosted 59 emerging changemakers from 38 countries, and will accept another 40 participants for GESA 2014 and 2015.
