Supporting Youth with the Global Youth Community launch
With this in mind, UNESCO’s Social and Human Sciences Sector launched the Global Youth Community (GYC) umbrella platform, in partnership with a highly motivated team of young leaders from across the world. Its aim is to further enhance cooperation among all youth initiatives and networks. Around 250 enthusiastic young people from all over the world joined the launch on 9 December 2022.

I am proud to have young people engaged with UNESCO’s work through the UNESCO Global Youth Community. The launch is only the beginning of a journey that will lead us to co-create the solutions that we need in these challenging times!
Stronger together
Global crises and the many obstacles youth face to engage in society can be overwhelming and challenging. This is why UNESCO will support the GYC in its function as a catalyzer that brings youth together, in a spirit of worldwide collaboration.
There is a power in collaboration (…) when you are mobilizing together it feels like a less lonely journey and it is a journey that encourages and empowers you to keep on going because you are seeing and drawing strength and inspiration from others around you.
This is what the GYC is all about: collaborating to build a better world for the current and future generations; and co-creating a community characterized by strong youth engagement, where everyone involved has a say and can collectively contribute to increase its impact.
You are not just members, you are key actors. We, together, are the GYC!
The start of a promising journey
Following this launch, regional consultations will be held in 2023, to start engaging new members, take concrete actions to reinforce the Community and achieve greater social impact together.
