Three years to address the teacher challenge
The International Task Force on Teachers for EFA is the only international platform to date dedicated to addressing the 鈥渢eacher gap鈥 to meet the 2015 EFA goals. In collaboration with UNESCO and the Government of Namibia, it is organizing an International policy dialogue forum on the theme 鈥淭hree Years of Global Partnership to Address the Teacher Challenge, Three Years from the 2015 EFA Benchmark: Achievements and Perspectives鈥 in Windhoek, Namibia on 28 and 29 November.
The Policy Dialogue Forum will discuss key issues related to teacher policies and practices, including teacher education and professional development; teachers鈥 status and working conditions; inclusion in teacher policies and practices; teachers and teaching for sustainable development; and monitoring and evaluating teacher policies and practices
It will be preceded by the Task Force statutory meetings (Steering Committee and Task Force Members Meetings) on 27 November and followed by The Pan-African Conference on Teacher Education (PACTED) on 30 November. A technical meeting of the partners of the African Union, PACTED will address the implementation of the African Union鈥檚 roadmap on Teacher Education in Africa adopted in April 2012.
Created in 2008, The International Task Force on Teachers for EFA is a global alliance of education partners. Its membership includes 57 countries, international governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as multilateral and bilateral donors.
