UN Secretary-General visits UNESCO on the eve of the COP21

Sunday, 29 November - met with the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, on the eve of to the UN Convention on Climate Change.
 

The UN Secretary-General and the Director-General took stock of the situation a few hours before the opening of the Conference and highlighted the historic progress already made with strong national commitments to reduce carbon emissions. They also discussed the need to promote "green companies", through the development of education for sustainable development, which is the only way to change behavior and perceptions in the long term. "Beyond the economic and political dimension, any sustainable response to climate change calls for an educational, cultural and scientific revolution, combined with an ethical commitment." declared the Director-General, Irina Bokova.
