UNESCO and Bashkortostan Celebrate 15 Years of Cooperation

On 1 October 2013, the Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, met with the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Rustem Khamitov, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The meeting took place on the occasion of day-long celebration organized by the Republic of Bashkortostan at the Organization.

The Director-General and the President signed a 颁辞尘尘耻苍颈辩耻茅 extending cooperation between Bashkortostan and UNESCO in the fields of education, the natural and social sciences and culture.

The celebration included two round tables on the 鈥淓ducational Environment of the Republic for Sustainable Development鈥 and on the 鈥淣atural and Cultural Property of Ural-Batyr Land and the Bashkir Urals Biosphere Reserve鈥, as well as an exhibition entitled 鈥淏ashkortostan 鈥 Pearl of Russia鈥 dedicated to 15 years of cooperation between the Republic of Bashkortostan and UNESCO,  that the Director-General inaugurated.

鈥淯NESCO and the Republic of Bashkortostan expressed today their commitment to strengthen their work together,鈥 said the Director-General.鈥淥ur partnership builds on a shared vision of the importance of quality learning, of harnessing the power of the sciences, of safeguarding and promoting cultural heritage and the diversity of cultural expressions.鈥

At the end of their meeting, the President of Bashkortostan awarded the Director-General with the Order of the People鈥檚 Friendship of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
