UNESCO-AUC-WHO-UNIC Webinar Series on Misinformation and Disinformation in the context of COVID-19 in the Arab Region
This 9- part webinar series was organized on Wednesday 16 September 2020, Wednesday 23 September 2020, Wednesday 30 September 2020, based on the UNESCO Handbook and policy resources and materials produced by other authorities in this field. This is a fast-moving area so engagement with frontline experts – by way of example the World Health Organization, the United Nations information Center – is crucial. Effectively combatting the pandemic and disinfodemic is a whole of society endeavor and the low-cost and reach of various platforms has provided private users and certain functional roles in organization with extensive outreach. The series is addressed to media professionals, health information officers and social influencers in Arab and African countries. This is a public event where 463 male and female participants are invited to join. There was also a gender-based approach that was used by our partner at AUC to select female panelists.Â
