UNESCO Beirut launches a Project Management Professional Training Program

A Professional Project Management Training Program targeting UNESCO's project managers in field offices and UNESCO Category 2 Centers in the Arab Region.聽

On 26 August 2019, UNESCO Beirut, in partnership with the Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education (RCQE), launched a professional training program on Project Management. The main purpose of the training, which targets 25 project managers and coordinators from UNESCO offices and category two centers across the Arab region, is to enhance participants鈥 knowledge and skills for effective and professional project management. The program will qualify the target audience for the PMP certification exam in line with the methodology of the American Management Association (AMA) and the Project Management Institute (PMI) and within the frame of the PMBOK庐 Guide 鈥 Sixth Edition.

Speaking at the kick-off of the training, Dr Hegazi Idris, UNESCO Beirut鈥檚 Programme Specialist for Basic Education and Literacy, said: 鈥淯NESCO Beirut recognizes the necessity for the professional management of educational projects to achieve desired quality outputs and outcomes. Accordingly and in close collaboration with RCQE, we are organizing this training program, which aims at enhancing beneficiaries鈥 management knowledge and skills, and enabling them to obtain the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification鈥. Dr Idris thanks RCQE for their generous contribution and the American Management Association (AMA), represented by expert and trainer Marwan Daya, for delivering this training.

In his turn, RCQE Director Dr Abdelrahman al Medayress highlighted the necessity of managing projects professionally and effectively in order to deliver quality education. Al Medayress praised the diversity of backgrounds and expertise of the participants which enriches the training and allows for a sharing of experience and best practices.

The 5 days intensive training will allow participants to gain knowledge and skills in the following areas: Learn all aspects of project management from the perspective of the PMBOK Guide; Acquire necessary prerequisite knowledge to enter a PMP Exam Prep training program; Learn the techniques of documenting project risks, assumptions and constraints; Become skilled in executing, monitoring and controlling the tasks defined in the project plan.
