On 27 January 2025, a training session was organized by UNESCO for personnel from the Directorate General of Antiquities (DGA) and ICOMOS Lebanon to provide them with essential skills to assess and document the status of Lebanon's historic sites using technology. The training focused on the use of a specialized GIS-based platform and its mobile application.

Led by UNESCO consultant Joe Kallas, with support from Selim Germanos, the session involved 22 DGA staff members and 13 experts from ICOMOS Lebanon. The core objective was to introduce and train participants on a system designed to create a detailed electronic inventory of Lebanon's cultural heritage, on 90 priority sites. This inventory is intended to provide a systematic record of site conditions and easy access to related detailed documentation.

The training focused on the practical application of the assessment methodology. Participants were instructed on the specific attributes to be recorded during site surveys, emphasizing the importance of consistent and accurate data collection. The training also included extensive hands-on experience with the mobile application, allowing participants to master the platform’s interface.
