UNESCO Launches Landmark Study on Digital Transformation in East Asian Higher Education

3 June 2025 – UNESCO is pleased to announce the release of its significant regional synthesis, "Digital Leap in East Asia: A Regional Synthesis on Higher Education Transformation". Now freely accessible online through UNESDOC. This comprehensive analysis explores how digital technologies are reshaping higher education systems across China, Japan, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, and beyond.
The publication captures the dynamic evolution of East Asia’s higher education landscape, examining rapid technological adoption, pedagogical innovations, and strategies to ensure equitable access amid digital transitions. It further addresses emerging challenges related to educational quality, future skills development, and institutional resilience – offering valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders navigating this transformative era.
